Step 03 Christ Crucified

“CHRIST CRUCIFIED”

The message of the whole Bible can be summarized in just these two words: “Christ crucified.”  By answering a few simple questions about these two words, the whole message begins to unfold!

Who is Christ?

“Christ” is a Greek word and means “the Anointed One.”  It was one of many titles in the Bible which describe the unique person for Whom mankind had been waiting for several thousand years.

You see, our first parents (Adam and Eve) disobeyed our Creator, Immediately the suffering and death that God had predicted began.  All of us have inherited their wicked predisposition to disobey our Creator and all of us add our own disobedience – with its miserable consequences.

But God promised that He would send the “Seed” of the woman. This “Seed” would remove the curses that result from mankind‘s disobedience.  During the next 4,000 years God repeated and amplified this promise through His prophets many times, as mankind waited.

In 6 B.C. God’s own Son was born of a Jewish virgin named Mary in Bethlehem of Judea in Palestine.  He was named Jesus, because He would save His people from their sins. Jesus is the promised “Seed,” the long-awaited “Christ.”  The waiting was over!

Why was Christ crucified?

The Anointed One proved that He is indeed God’s Son by performing many astounding miracles and by living a pure life for us.

Then, just as God’s prophets had predicted, in the spring of 30 A.D. He took our place and suffered the horrible curse of our disobedience; He died for our sins.

Again, just as God’s prophets had predicted, on the third day afterward the Anointed One defeated death for us by rising from the dead.  He appeared to  many witnesses after His resurrection.

What should I do?

  • REPENT!  Turn away from all of your false beliefs and bad behavior.  Turn to God’s way of thinking and doing things.
  • BELIEVE!  Believe this excellent announcement of salvation through His Son.  Believe that Jesus is your own Savior from sin.  Believe that Jesus is your rightful King.
  • BE BAPTIZED!  Be baptized with water for the forgiveness of sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
